Most complaints investigated by EWOV are resolved through conciliation. The following electricity, gas, dual fuel and water case studies demonstrate the range of complaints received and the outcomes achieved through EWOV investigations over the past year. The initials used have no relevance to the name of the actual customer in each case.

Of almost 276,000 cases to 30 June 2011, only 36 have required the Ombudsman to make a Binding Decision — and no Binding Decisions have been necessary since 2003.  

We also have a responsibility to identify systemic issues and potential compliance issues from the cases we receive — and, as appropriate, report these to relevant companies and regulatory authorities.
